Albert J. MacGillivray, 88, of Barrington.
He was the husband of Louise (Lane) MacGillivray for 61 years. Born in Roslindale, MA, he was the son of the late Albert G. and Catherine MacGillivray and brother of the late Donald MacGillivray. Albert and Louise moved to Barrington in 1972.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Paul) Zangari of Lincoln, and four sons: Stephen MacGillivray of Barrington, Brian (Anne) MacGillivray of Jacksonville, FL, Brendan (Debra) MacGillivray of Bel Air, MD, Scot (Trish) MacGillivray of Barrington, and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. A graduate of Burdett College, he worked in the insurance underwriting business before his retirement in 1993.
He was a lifelong baseball fan who grew up around Fenway Park, graduating from a high school in Kenmore Square. He coached Barrington Little League baseball for several years, leading one team to a state championship.
He was an avid golfer. He had a great knowledge and love of classical music and led music seminars at the Brown University Community for Learning in Retirement. He and Louise enjoyed the RI Philharmonic, years of travel, and spending time with their grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 8:30 am from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road , Warren, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Luke’s Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
